The Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On Weekend is yet again set to be one of the biggest events in Blackpool! The Switch-On show takes place on the Tower Headland.
LLUMINASIA is Blackpool’s must-see family attraction at the wonderful Winter Gardens! The world’s largest indoor illumination experience blends traditional Chinese lantern crafts with the latest in lighting technology, and boasts hundreds of incredible structures covering thousands of square feet within the Olympia Exhibition Hall. Visitors will explore 6 vibrant, immersive and interactive zones that will captivate the imagination of all ages … the Mysteries of China, the Blackpool Experience, the Planetarium, Land of the Giants, the Deep and the Wonders of the World complete with a 45 feet high model of Blackpool Tower.

Dirty Dancing at the Winter Gardens Blackpool 29th August – 2nd September 2017
The classic story of Baby and Johnny returns, following two blockbuster West End runs and two hit UK Tours, featuring the hit songs ‘Hungry Eyes’, ‘Hey! Baby’, ‘Do You Love Me?’ and the heart stopping ‘(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life’.
It’s the summer of 1963, and 17 year – old Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman is about to learn some major lessons in life as well as a thing or two about dancing. On holiday with her older sister and parents, she shows little interest in the resort activities, and instead discovers her own entertainment when she stumbles across an all-night dance party. Intreged by the dance moves and the pounding rhythms, Baby can’t wait to be part of the scene, especially when she catches sight of Johnny Castle the resort dance instructor. Her life is about to change forever as she is thrown in at the deep end as Johnny’s leading lady both on-stage and off, two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds come together in what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives.
The show is now in its 26th year and is staged to give children the opportunity to experience performing in live theatre, and on a professional stage that has been home to many of the world’s biggest stars throughout the years.

May Blackpool Dance Festival at the Winter Gardens Blackpool 25th May – 2nd June 2017
The Festival began in 1920 in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, you can find out more by visiting our History section.
Covering a period of nine days this is by far the largest of all the five Blackpool Festivals. The Festival covers Ballroom and Latin American dancing, incorporating the British Open Championships for Adult Amateur and Professional couples, plus Formation Teams. 2005 saw the introduction of two new events, the British Rising Star Amateur Ballroom and Latin Competitions.
Three Invitation events took place this year, the Professional Team Match on the Saturday, the Exhibition Competition and the American Smooth showdance on the Thursday evening, created a vast amount of interest and crowd appeal. 2015 was the event’s 90th year and there were 60 countries represented. A total number of 2,903 entries in the 12 events, 2 Ballroom Formation Teams and 10 Latin Formation Teams.
